Horizon
we met each other at the edge
of that circle dance
realizing that we had been moving away from each other
not closer together
but we also discovered this: that as we danced further and further apart
we eventually found each other again
Forgiveness
i like this place of forgiveness,
it is wide
enough for all of us
to stand, side by side
touching or not
Bone
how to grow bone:
take what you already have and throw it
into skin
add intention, or what’s left of it
and the fruit will be solid
it will drop
down
below the knees & grow
at your feet up into the sky
until one day it too will break as you did,
into something complete, perhaps, or perfect
Wicked
night falls on the wicked
but the wicked do not fall
they dance
softly, at first
then fervently
eventually, & fervently
Midnight
midnight at dawn
the last door rises
and there you shall stand
to greet the sand and hay
one in life
two in death
and three for the emperor, all in vain
Fog
what is this fog to me?
or these geese, who are specks of it?
to walk among the sacred trees - the hazel, the willow
& older still, to be one of them
Aloe
what you are looking for, she said with some certainty
is a healing
an aloe to smear on the burn
Sparkle
everything sparkles when you look close enough
i mean really close, when the eye dews up
and sends the light into a thousand different directions
breaking all the bullshit up into tiny little pieces, and
catching the eye - lets you see through things
maybe even through to the face of god
Storm
you drove thru torrential downpour, my dear
while i slept in the back seat, pretending to (or perhaps)
solidifying the end of our friendship -
like lightning splitting the sky in two
only permanent
(according to a talismanic formula)
